The ruby-colored 2000 Cotes du Forez (flower label) is a sweet raspberry and cherry-scented wine from a new Loire Valley appellation located near the town of Boen, south of Roanne. Produced entirely from Gamay (as the appellation's rules dictate), this is a light to medium-bodied wine with pretty cassis, raspberry, cherry-flavored bubblegum, and floral flavors. It is fresh, lively, and thirst-quenching. Drink it over the next 12 months. Bravo! to Georges Duboeuf for this impressive line-up of wines, and for the fact that he has remained true to his goal of delivering high quality at consumer friendly prices.
