The 2012 Mencía fermented in stainless steel and matured in new and used 400-liter French oak barrels for one year. There are plenty of lactic aromas, akin to fruit of the forest yogurt, in a nice commercial profile. The palate shows the house style, polished and sleek with moderate acidity. 80,000 bottles produced.

The 2010 Mencia takes advantage of the blending and diversity of terroirs and the use of both American and French oak, which gives complexity to the end product. Mineral and balsamic, fresh and ripe, it is my favorite wine from the portfolio today. It is clean, pure and delightful to drink. Drink 2014-2018. Godelia is a very recent winery, created in 2009 by the Garcia Rodriguez family. They own 35 hectares of vineyards, in different locations with varying altitudes and orientations. They work with white Godello and red Mencia, 30 hectares of them on trellises and the rest are head-pruned old vines. The winery has 36 stainless-steel tanks of different sizes and 250 oak barrels.
