The 2009 Seven Acre Shiraz presents a deep garnet-purple color and aromas of black cherry compote, stewed plums and mulberries with hints of red roses, black tea and damp earth. Full bodied and generously fruited with preserved berry and warm plum flavors, it has a good backbone of very crisp acid and a medium to firm level of chewy tannins, finishing long. It’s deliciously tempting now, though it should drink best 2013 to 2020+. Importer: No Known American Importer.

Very deep garnet purple colored, the 2008 Seven Acre Shiraz reveals pronounced notes of blackberry and black cherry preserves with some blueberries, figs, spice box, coffee and cedar. Crisp, full and rich, it has firm fine-grained tannins with a long espresso and dark chocolate laced finish. Consider drinking this one from 2013 to 2020+. The 2006 Shiraz Seven Acre gives up a room-filling bouquet of smoke, Asian spices, incense, game, and blueberry. Structured, ripe, and richly fruited, it is not quite as voluptuous as in the finest years, but that is a minor quibble. Allow 2-3 years of additional cellaring and drink it through 2018. Greenock Creek’s latest collection is a bit more mixed than usual due to the more challenging nature of the vintages from which these wine were produced. The Seven Acres Shiraz was also aged for 28 months in seasoned American oak hogsheads. Tar, mineral, earth notes, smoked meat, and blueberry scents jump from the glass of this full-bodied but restrained (relatively speaking) Shiraz. On the palate it is a bit more austere than its siblings with a bit more structure and apparent acidity. As a result, it will require longer cellaring and should offer prime drinking from 2015 to 2030.
