The new releases include one white wine, the 2010 Angel Sauvignon Blanc which was barrel-fermented followed by aging in stainless steel. There is ample savory, herb-tinged ripe fruit to balance the high natural acidity of the vintage. This tasty effort will drink well for another 1-2 years. It is a very good value. Guardian Cellars was launched in 2003 by Jerry Riener, a full-time police officer, hence some of the names assigned to his wines. Though crafted in 100% new French oak, this retains its strong varietal character, but some of the acidic sharpness is softened by the barrel fermentation.
