I have had mixed results with my tastings of the Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post Pinots. They have a tendency to be overtly herbaceous, and/or kinky. Such is not the case with this offering, which is a meaty, spicy, smoky, herb-tinged Pinot Noir. This deep ruby-colored wine reveals gobs of grilled vegetable, jammy cherry, plum, and smoky scents in its complex aromatics. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied and ripe, with excellent concentration, good overall balance, and a distinctive Pinot Noir character. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.Tel. (805) 688-7843
