Richer and fleshier than the more incisive Gravières, the 2020 Santenay 1er Cru Le Beaurepaire mingles aromas of crisp stone fruit and mandarin oil with hints of ripe pear, freshly baked bread and hazelnut. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's fleshy and enveloping, with racy acids and a long, saline finish.

The 2019 Santenay 1er Cru Le Beaurepaire opens in the glass with notions of orange oil, white flowers, crisp green apple and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and incisive, it's tangier and racier than the Gravières, Vincent observing that there's always one gram per liter higher acidity in this site, with its phosphorus-rich soils. Seamless and complete, it has turned out beautifully.

The 2018 Santenay 1er Cru Le Beaurepaire has turned out nicely, mingling aromas of citrus zest, white flowers and blanched almond with hints of white peach and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and incisive, it's bright and vibrant, with chalky structuring extract and tangy acids.

As I suspected, the 2017 Santenay 1er Cru Le Beaurepaire has indeed gained in tension since I tasted it at the end of last year, and today, the wine is showing brilliantly. Offering up notes of green pear, iodine, lemon oil and wheat toast, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with excellent concentration and mid-palate volume, tangy acids and a precise, saline finish.

The 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Le Beaurepaire is showing very well from bottle, revealing aromas of oatmeal, ripe lemons, iodine and subtle hints of yellow orchard fruit. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, its impressive amplitude tempered by incisive acids, concluding with a long finish.
