The 2003 Santenay 1er Cru Le Beaurepaire has also aged well, unwinding in the glass with scents of orange oil, beeswax and ripe peach. Full-bodied, concentrated and layered, with a rich, fleshy core of fruit, ripe acids and considerable concentration, like more than a few 2003 white Burgundies, it has aged on its extract and structure rather than acidity. A touch of creamy back-end sulfate testifies to the bottling practices of the era.
