Starting with the young 2021 Trepat, I tasted three Trepat bottlings, where they look for varietal typicity of fruits of the forest, spice and fine tannins that should give it a good texture. It was produced with grapes from four old vineyards on clay soils, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in old barrels and foudres for six months. It has 12% alcohol and very good freshness and integrated acidity, and it's fruit-driven and straightforward with notes of red berries and a light to medium-bodied palate with fine tannins. Quite light. 23,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2022.

The fragrant and perfumed 2014 Josep Foraster Trepat is produced from Trepal grapes from 50-year-old vines. The wine had an élevage of six months and had the textbook aromas of dry rose petals, pumice stone and bees wax, perfumed, open and expressive. The juicy palate has flavors of acid berries and vibrant acidity, with a fine, silky texture. Refreshing and very pleasant. Very good value too. 17,800 bottles.

The 2013 Josep Foraster Trepat, produced with the flagship local red grape from the appellation, was harvested extremely late in November when the grapes were fully ripe in a cool and rainy vintage. The wine matured in 300- and 500-liter oak barrels for six months. I've found quite a few examples of the grape that show meaty aromas, slightly animal, with a herbal edge, like here. It has good acidity, is quite light, but at the same time it does not lack concentration. Quite pleasant if you're not bothered by that faint animal feel to it. 17,400 bottles produced.

The 2012 Josep Foraster Trepat is very pale, almost translucent ruby-colored, some would say it’s a dark rose, but that’s the typical color of the Trepat grape, with a perfumed and subtle nose of flowers and red fruits (pomegranate) and a light palate with very good acidity and elegant, pure flavors and very good length. This is reminiscent of a Pinot Noir. An elegant red – I’d love to see how it ages. Highly recommended, ideal to know what Trepat is, and at a sensible price. Drink now-2017. is a family winery, created in 1998, where they work exclusively with the fruit of their own vineyards, which are organically farmed.
