The 2007 Dyo Elies is a blend of Syrah (60%), Merlot (30%) and Xinomavro (10%), aged for 14 months in a mixture of French and American oak. Very Northern Rhone-ish, this has quite an elegant mid-palate, a serious tannic backbone and a sharp, bright feel to it. Alternately gamey and sweet, the sweet notes popping up from the oak, the game consistently cutting through it, this overall has an elegant feel to it in the mid-palate, but intensity of flavor and some hard, drying tannins on the finish. There is not much mid-palate concentration, but it has some charm - at least when the tannins moderate. Drink now-2020.
