The 2021 Chardonnay One Sixteen, matured for 14 months in 34% new French oak, takes some time to shake off its youthful crème br?lée and allspice tones to reveal apricot, beeswax and honeysuckle aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers powerful fruit and oak spice and satisfying freshness to lift the finish.

The 2020 Chardonnay One Sixteen is scented of yellow apples, beeswax, almonds and flint. The palate is waxy in texture, with tangy acidity, concentrated fruits and a long, spicy finish.

The 2018 Chardonnay One Sixteen comes from six or seven different vineyards throughout the Russian River Valley. It has a soft nose of baker’s yeast, apricot, spring honey and white blossoms with a gently nutty undercurrent. The palate is medium-bodied and silky with a good blend of savory flavor and tangy uplift, finishing long and layered.

The 2017 Chardonnay One Sixteen aged from four to 15 months in several vessels: 34% new French oak, 30% stainless, 18% foudres, 3% concrete eggs and 1% concrete tanks. It opens with aromas of roasted almonds, toast, white peach, gunflint and dried chamomile with touches of lemon pith. The palate is light to medium-bodied with toasty fruits, well-woven but refreshing acidity and a long, savory finish. This is a touch rounder and more open than its 2016 counterpart. 3,400 cases produced.

The 2016 Chardonnay One Sixteen was aged in several vessels for varying lengths of time, from five to 14 months in 26% new French oak, 25% stainless, 12% foudres, 10% concrete tanks and 2% concrete eggs. It opens with soft notes of petrichor, crushed hazelnuts, Greek yogurt and fresh apples with accents of white peaches and lime peel. The palate is light to medium-bodied with bright citrus and tree fruits with a rocky streak, tangy acidity and a long, energetic finish. This offers a nice balance of savory and mineral character and has the structure to gain amplitude in bottle. 3,700 cases produced.
