The 2008 RESERVA “RAPARIGA DA QUINTA” is a blend of Alicante Bouschet (30%), Aragonez (30%) and Trincadeira (40%) aged for 9 months in a combination of French and American oak. The oak is far too obvious on this wine early on, a significant difference between this and the Tinto reviewed this issue. I was very pleased to note, though, that it does integrate decently with air, as the wine begins to show a bit more finesse and class and put its parts together. That said, the nose in particular always remains well scented with powerful oaky notes. This Reserva also adds a layer of depth and some more serious backbone over the Tinto, while retaining an otherwise well balanced and graceful demeanor. Drink now-2017. These are part of the Wine Project Portugal import portfolio. Winemaker Luis Duarte, a familiar face in the South from his work at places like Herdade dos Grous and Esporao, presents his own portfolio here. Monte do Carrapatelo is Duarte’s property where he resides and debuted with the 2008 vintage. Rapariga da Quinta (meaning “Girl of the Estate”) was established in 2007. The grapes are sourced from S.
