A pure expression of Aglianico, the 2012 Borgomastro is a bit gamey and wild on first nose. This wine is fermented in stainless steel, but it ages in oak barrels (new, second and third year) for an extended 26 months. Thanks to that elaborate winemaking process, you do get a generous and rich mouthfeel. The bouquet shows tones of black fruit, olive and smoked bacon. Only 2,700 bottles were made.
