The 2016 Macon-Uchizy Les Maranches reveals aromas of lemon oil, dried white flowers, beeswax and toasted hazelnuts, framed by light reduction. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with a glossy, expansive attack and one of the most giving, open-knit profiles of any wine in the cellar, concluding with a chalky finish. There's some muscaté Chardonnay planted here, but its influence is less apparent today than it was six or seven months ago when I last tasted it.
