The 2011 Primitivo does not hold back in terms of its aromatic intensity. The bouquet delivers heavy pulses of Maraschino cherry, sweet chocolate, crushed clove and cinnamon. Although the wine is only partially aged in barrique for five months, that oak element is surprisingly strong and enduring. There's a good amount of chewy sweetness on the wine's sticky finish.

If you like plump, juicy and ripe wines, this syrupy Primitivo is for you. It offers aromas of black cherry and blackberry pie and it thick and sticky in the mouth. It’s a simple but jammy wine.——M.L.(3/1/2009)—— 84
