A blend of 25% Merlot and equal parts Syrah and Malbec, the 2013 Vestige opens to a delightful nose of cedar, spiced plums and black cherries. Medium to full-bodied, the palate displays a balanced, fresh and slightly rustic sensation as the wine begins to mature and shows tertiary flavors of wilted fern and walnut skin. Structurally sound with fine-grained tannins that have smoothed out to be silky, the finish is delightfully lingering with persistent flavors of dried cherries with elements of cinnamon and nutmeg. Even at eight years old, the bottling still has plenty of life left in it. Well done!
