From the artists' series, the organic Nittardi 2021 Chianti Classico Casanuova di Nittardi La Doghessa shows rich, warm-vintage fruit with sweet berry, baking spice and toasted almond. The wine offers nice intensity over a balanced mouthfeel with plenty of dark fruit definition. It closes on a sweet note with dry oak tannins. The label artwork is by American film director James Ivory. This release of 35,000 bottles will hit the market in fall 2023.

This is a classic wine from a historic producer. The Nittardi 2019 Chianti Classico Casanuova di Nittardi La Doghessa (featuring special artwork on the front label each new vintage) is an organic expression of Sangiovese that is fermented with spontaneous yeasts and aged in tonneaux for 15 months. The wine reveals generous fruit tones with plum, black cherry and sweet earth. There is a good amount of extraction or richness in this vintage, and this translates especially well in terms of mouthfeel. Production is 30,000 bottles, and La Doghessa always offers terrific value.
