The 2018 Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and elegant scents of black tea leaves, cola, forest floor and red and black cherry fruits. The palate is light to medium-bodied and silky in texture with layers of earth, fruit and citrusy accents, finishing long. 1,115 cases produced.

Pale ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir has a classically styled nose with aromas of cola, woodsmoke, black tea leaves, cranberry and Bing cherry plus undergrowth and earthy hints. The palate is light-bodied, silky and delicate with earthy character, soft tannins, juicy acidity and a long finish. This has nice purity and delicacy. 950 cases produced.

The 2016 Pinot Noir from The Ojai Vineyard reveals aromas of plums, raspberries, potpourri and sweet spices. On the palate, it's supple, open-knit and medium-bodied, with mouthwatering acids and melting tannins behind its generous core of fruit. This should offer a lot of pleasure in its youth.

The classic Santa Barbara County Appellation release is the 2014 Pinot Noir, which has a supple, fleeting, yet charming feel in its cranberry, forest floor, cherry and spice-driven aromas and flavors. Bottled early, after 11 months in barrel, it will drink nicely for 4-5 years.

Although this is the estate's entry-level Pinot Noir, don't let that deter you, as the 2013 Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County is a sensational effort that easily stands up to the single-vineyard releases in 2013. Coming primarily from Kick On Ranch, Solomon Hills and Bien Nacido (which are some of the best sites in California), it offers tons of strawberry, raspberry and sappy flower notions in a pretty, elegant and lightly textured style. Possessing both terrific aromatics and a great texture, enjoy this beauty over the coming 4-5 years.
