A terrific effort, the 2017 Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes is a blend of fruit from around Bedarrides with a component from the Gard. It's a 60-40 blend of Grenache (aged in tank) with Syrah (aged in barriques). Raspberries, cherries and chocolate come together in this velvety-textured, full-bodied beauty that should drink well for 5-6 years.

The medium-bodied 2015 Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes features delicate red fruits—raspberries and strawberries—but not much richness or texture. Drink it over the next few years.

The 2014 C?tes du Rh?ne Vieilles Vignes from Olivier Hillaire is another rock solid C?tes du Rh?ne that offer lots of bang for the buck. Provencal spice, garrigue, leather and mulled darker fruits all give way to a medium-bodied, supple, quaffable beauty that’s ideal for drinking over the coming 3-4 years.

Hillarie’s 2013 C?tes du Rh?ne Vieilles Vignes is an impressive looking red that gives up plenty of ripe cherry, herbs, pepper and hints of olive in its medium-bodied, rounded, flavorful profile. Made from 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and the rest Cinsault and Carignan, mostly destemmed, and aged 20% in barrel, it will drink nicely for 3-5 years.
