The 1997 Rosso Corale is a barrique-aged (50% new oak) blend of 35% Nebbiolo, 35% Barbera, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot. There are 250 cases of this wine, which should not go unnoticed by fans of Piedmontese winemaking. An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by a full-bodied, deep, chewy, Bordeaux-like offering. It reveals cassis, black cherry, leather, cedar, and spice box aromas, medium to full body, superb definition and intensity, and a long, ripe, opulent finish. It should drink well for 7-10 years.
