The 2021 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir comes from vines that are more than 20 years old and was matured in about 40% new French oak for 12 months. I tasted it as a finished tank sample the day before it was bottled. The Mon Plaisir features pure, inviting scents of yellow peaches, allspice, jasmine and flint. The light-bodied palate is surprisingly mouthwatering and ethereal, its concentrated flavors giving way to a fan of spicy accents on the long finish. Latent and youthful, I suspect it has more to give as it gains complexity in bottle over the next 5-7 years. 1,074 cases were made, and this will be released in July of 2023.
