The 2004 Tinto (Quinta da Alorna) is fresh and fruity, a blend of Tinta Roriz, Castelao, Syrah and Alicante Bouschet. It is a very suave, flavorful wine, with relatively soft tannins and some liveliness. It tastes great, goes down easy, but needs to be drunk young. It is a nice deal for the price. There isn’t much depth, but it is solid enough not to feel thin or watery, at least in its youth. It’s a bit simple, but the charming, beautifully balanced presentation, nuanced with plums and blackberries, works well for the short term. Drink now-2009.
