The 2005 RESERVA shows the same nice structure as the Touriga Nacional, but is a bit more open and has a little more depth. The fruit pokes through and it is mighty flavorful when it does, lingering beautifully, expanding and coating the mouth. There is some power here, but that’s not all there is. A closed, dark, tight wine, with an austere, mineral character, that obviously needs considerable aging. Smoky, meaty, dark tannins are dominant here, the black berry fruit showing through the powerful structure. Keep for 3–4 years. ——R.V.(8/1/2009)—— 92
