The 2008 Cabernet Dott. Palazzolo 80 is a dark, powerful wine loaded with black fruit, espresso, grilled herbs and cassis. Hints of earthiness, leather and licorice develop in the glass, adding complexity. Today the tannins come across as super imposing, but if they soften I could see the score going higher. This is certainly an intriguing wine well worth considering. The Dott. Palazzolo 80 is a single-vineyard field blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc. Proprietor Serena Palazzolo dedicated this wine to her late father, whose 80th birthday happened to be the day this fruit was harvested. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.
