The 2006 Altamira Red Blend is composed of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 25% Malbec, and 5% Cabernet Franc aged in 100% new French oak for 18 months. Deep purple in color, it exhibits a nose of smoky, toasty oak, cinnamon, clove, fresh herbs, incense, black currant, black cherry, and dark chocolate. This leads to a wine which is slightly narrow on the mid-palate and a bit lacking in volume but otherwise displays ample tasty fruit, good balance, and a medium-long finish.www.altamirawines.com
