Salwey's 2020 Weissburgunder Kirchberg GG is a dense and aromatic yet very fine and yeasty, very well-rested Pinot Blanc with fine mineral spiciness. Tight-knit, vital and fresh, the elegant fruit is combined with a lively mineral soul on the palate. This is a complex, elegant and persistent Pinot with lingering salinity and mineral purity. Salwey's 2019 Weissburgunder Kirchberg GG opens with a clear and remarkably delicate yet also intense fruit intertwined with very fine saline and phenolic notes. Lush and refined the palate, this is a juicy, round and tensioned, persistently saline and crunchy Pinot Blanc with a long and aromatic finish. Highly stimulating and complex, this is another highlight in Salwey's current GG offer. 13% stated alcohol. Tasted in Wiesbaden, August 2022.

Released in September last year, Konrad Salwey's 2017 Weissburgunder Kirchberg GG is as intense as it is pure, fresh and stony on the aromatic yet not really fruity nose, which is rather a perfume of crushed rocks and roasted almonds. Silky, pure and fresh on the palate, this is a lean, linear, tight and elegant Pinot Blanc with still-young grip and tension. This is no wine for umami lovers, since its mixture of salt and lemon flavors is pretty much the opposite. Oysters and scallops could be the right dishes with this Kirchberg that is so fresh that it never settles down on the palate or just appeals. This is a rather functional gastronomic wine yet nothing for hedonists. Tasted in October 2020.

The 2016 Weissburgunder Kirchberg GG is intense on the nose, revealing ripe yet pure fruit intertwined with tobacco aromas, yeast and chalk yet also a certain animal note of a horse stable. Full-bodied and rich on the first impression, this is another fresh but only underripe Pinot Blanc that is greenish and sharp on the finish. There might be folks around who like this green-rhubarb freshness, but it's definitely not me. Tasted in May 2020.
