The Bell'Aja 2020 Bolgheri Rosso is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from the sandy limestone soils that are commonly found in the far north of the appellation not too far from the coastline. The wine opens to soft fruit concentration and velvety richness with standard blackberry and spice, followed up by soft tannins. Eighteen days of fermentation are followed by 12 months in barrique. The alcohol is a bit too high in this warm vintage, coming in at 15.5%. Some 36,000 bottles were made.
