This is mostly Syrah, with small amounts of Cinsault, Mourvedre and Grenache included. The Snake River Valley AVA crosses from Idaho into eastern Oregon; these are Idaho grapes as far as can be ascertained. The wine is tannic and well-made, with deeply-flavored, meaty fruit character. Wild berries and plums are suggested, with much darker streaks of coffee, licorice, smoke and earth. The alcohol (almost 15%) shows through in some residual heat.——P.G.(12/15/2009)—— 88
