The Schwarzbock’s 2007 Riesling Pocken – from a chalky, stony plateau high on the Bisamberg at the – offers a heady bouquet of lilac, backed by fresh lime. An irresistibly juicy, luscious, lime- and herb-filled palate also incorporates interesting musky, animal suggestions, and a bright, saline finish. I would anticipate that this is best drunk over the next two years, however I am only now discovering the wines of this estate and do not know their track record. Anita and Rudi Schwarzbock are among the numerous rising talents of the huge Weinviertel, farming nearby vineyards in Vienna as well. This is an estate worth following not just for its values, but for a manifest potential to render some superb wines.Importer:Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel.
