The 2012 Viognier offers notes of spiced apple slices, ripe pears and lychees with melon and rose water nuances. Medium-bodied, it delivers a pleasantly oily texture and plenty of peaches and baking spice flavors with a lovely citrus lift coming through in the long finish.

The 2011 Viognier is scented of warm apricots, honeysuckle and mace with touches of white pepper and coriander seed. Full-bodied with a pleasant oiliness to the texture, it offers mouth-filling apricot and spice flavors balanced by a crisp acid line, finishing long. Drink this one now through 2014. I tasted a few of Seresin’s single vineyard 2009 Pinot Noirs again this year, to check how they were developing now that they were entering their drinking window. Coming from Seresin’s Raupo Creek Vineyard, the 2010 Viognier was fermented with wild yeast in two 500L French oak puncheons (one puncheon was new) and aged for 8 months. It is intensely perfumed of honeysuckle and frangipani over a core of ripe apricots, acacia honey, spicy poached pears and coriander seed. Full bodied and with a silky texture, it has a great line of refreshing acidity balancing out the richness and giving lift throughout the long finish.
