Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 Shingleback D Block Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is intensely scented of crushed blackcurrants, fresh blackberries and cedar with hints of fresh mint, pencil lead, lilacs and ground pepper. Full bodied with a very satisfying concentration of taut, tight-knit berry flavors, it has a firm level of finely-grained tannins and refreshing acid, finishing long and a little oaky at this stage. The 2009 Shingleback D Block Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon displays a deep garnet-purple color and earthy notes of damp loam and moss covered tree bark over a core of blackberry preserves and blackcurrant cordial plus hints of cloves and cigar box. Medium to full bodied, it is elegantly fruited in the mouth with youthful, taut, primary flesh that is well supported by firm, fine-grained tannins and crisp acid. The finish is long and layered.
