Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Block 14 Basket Press Shiraz conjures notions of black cherries and black raspberries on the nose with hints of black pepper, licorice, tar and charcoal. Light to medium-bodied with a crisp acid backbone and chewy tannic grip, it is a little lean in the mid-palate with some pleasant, yet fleeting, pepper and herb notes on the finish.

Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Block 14 Basket Press Shiraz has a pronounced nose of black pepper and crushed black cherries with hints of dried Provence herbs and tar. This medium-bodied wine is just a bit lean in the mid-palate and has an herbal streak that detracts from the fruit slightly as well as tannins that are a little astringent and bitter.
