A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2007 Andrea Reserve Cabernet Merlot was matured in seasoned French oak barrels for 12 months. Deep garnet-purple colored, it offers evolving notes of mulberries, creme de cassis and dried plums over soy, black olives, dried herbs and fertile earth. Medium-full bodied with just enough fruit concentration, it has very crisp acid, a medium level of chewy tannins and a long savory finish. Drinking now, it should keep another 3-5 years. Bob Cartwright, chief winemaker for many years at Leeuwin Estate, moved over to this small, quality driven estate around 5 years ago. These wines bear the hallmarks of his undeniable talent for getting the land to speak through the wines. All the wines are made from single vineyard estate vines planted in 1997.
