Blended of 54% Semillon and 46% Sauvignon Blanc, the grapes for the 2010 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc spent extended time on skins, while approximately half of the Semillon component was fermented in older French oak. It gives pronounced notes of pink grapefruit, under-ripe pineapple, green mango and chalk dust. Bone dry and light to medium bodied in the mouth, it has a pleasantly satiny texture with crisp acid and plenty of ripe tropical fruit, finishing long. Drink this one now through 2014+. Bob Cartwright, chief winemaker for many years at Leeuwin Estate, moved over to this small, quality driven estate around 5 years ago. These wines bear the hallmarks of his undeniable talent for getting the land to speak through the wines. All the wines are made from single vineyard estate vines planted in 1997. This is a property to watch.Thompson Estate does not currently have a USA importer.
