The 2012 Macabeo Finca Racons is produced with Macabeo grapes from two separate vineyards (one planted in 1917 and the other one in 1955) which fermented and aged for six months in new 500-liter oak barrels. It is very oaky with strong charred wood notes, vanilla, popcorn, toasted bread and a distant core of white fruit and fennel. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with pungent flavors, also quite marked by its elevage with a warm finish. Give it some bottle aging. Drink 2015-2018.
Tomas Cusine produces a whole range of whites and reds in the Costers del Segre appellation as well as other wines in Conca de Barbera and Catalunya. A prolific, reliable name.
