From a local cooperative, Tramontane’s 2010 Macabeu (from 30-50 year old vines) is a wonderful flowery, honeyed, perfumed wine with a distinctive character and fresh, lively, medium-bodied flavors that have not seen a bit of oak. This pretty white would be a real head-scratcher in a blind tasting. Enjoy it over the next year. This relatively obscure grape is grown in the foothills of the Pyrenees, near Roussillon, in quartz and schist soils.Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800
