The 2006 Barbera spent 42 months in neutral French oak. Mineral, spice box, red fruits, and cherry blossom inform the nose of this vibrant, concentrated, lengthy effort. There is very little Barbera produced in Washington but after tasting this one, you wonder why. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Tranche Cellars sources their grapes from their Blue Mountain Estate Vineyard in the Walla Walla AVA. The four offerings from Tranche are all outstanding.Tel. (509) 526-4400; www.tranchecellars.com
