The 2007 GEWURZTRAMINER comes in a 500ml bottle. It is dry, managing not to be bitter on the finish. It has surprising amounts of acidity, which makes it finish a bit mouthwatering. It is more powerful than fruity. It does not seem much like Alsace Gewurz, but it is a pretty respectable effort for this difficult grape. Drink now-2010. Founded in 1989, with its first vintage in 1995, Tselepos today releases about 300,000 bottles a year. French trained owner Yiannis Tselepos received his oenology degree in Dijon and worked in Burgundy. He does good work with local grapes, but also makes good international wines like Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Gewurztraminer.Importer: VOS Selections, New York, N.Y.; tel: (212) 967-6948
