The 2006 Palenque (an equal part blend of Grenache and Mourvedre) appears to be dominated by the Mourvedre component as it is a lean, austere, angular effort with a few rough edges. It possesses a dark color and attractive aromatics, but the somewhat disjointed, rustic palate is in complete contrast with Villa Creek Cellars- other offerings. One of my favorite wineries from Paso Robles is Villa Creek Cellars, which fashions innovative Rhone Ranger blends that taste great and, for the most part, are fairly priced.Tel.
