Vinos Sin-Ley’s Monastrell series begins with the 2009 M1 made with fruit sourced from Valencia. Dark ruby-colored, it delivers a fragrant perfume of underbrush, mineral, and blueberry. Ripe and savory on the palate, it has plenty of succulent fruit and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. Drink it over the next 3 years. It is an excellent value. The 2008 M1 is 100% Monastrell from Valencia. Purple-colored, it has a peppery, spicy nose with aromas of blueberry and licorice. The 2006 M1 from Valencia is dark ruby-colored. It has an expressive nose of blue fruits and violets leading to a supple-textured wine with no hard edges. It is a user-friendly wine for near-term drinking. Vinos Sin-Ley’s M Series features the Monastrell grape which flourishes in the warmer, drier D.O.s. As with the G Series, the wines are all raised in stainless steel to better preserve the fruit.

The M Series wines are all 100% Monastrell aged in stainless steel. The 2005 M1/Monastrell from Valencia reveals an attractive earthy, kirsch-scented nose, medium-body, and layers of tasty fruit. It is an easy-drinking crowd pleaser that should be consumed over the next 12-18 months. The name Vinos Sin-Ley means “wines without laws.” According to importer Patrick Mata, these cuvees are produced by an array of serious winemakers who wish to have their own personal projects apart from those of their employers and to not be bound by the various D.O. regulations. The G Series wines are composed of 100% Garnacha while the new M Series wines are 100% Monastrell. The Zestos wines are blends. They are reviewed in the order they were presented.
