Tightly wound and expressive, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Sagemoor bursts from the glass with dusty blackberry essence, red and purple flowers, dark cherry skin, currant, cassis and elements of French baking spices. Full-bodied, the wine is generous and compact on the palate, showing tones of cedar and pencil shavings with a rocky mineral tension, followed by food-friendly gripping tannins. The long, drawn-out finish continues to evolve in the mouth with flavors of bitter dark chocolate, vanilla and dusty black raspberries. The wine spent 18 months in 80% new French oak barrels. Almost 4,300 bottles were produced. Bravo!
