The first pressing of this year’s frozen harvest was bottled as a “two star” 2004 Muhlheimer Helenenkloster Riesling Eiswein** A.P. #20, and displays a remarkable degree of difference from its sibling. Peach jam and distilled pit fruit character on the nose lead to a viscous jammy, yet intensely citric palate impression. This may, like its sibling, be a bit undifferentiated, but here we have flavors of enormous concentration and brightness, leading to a rolling block of a finish that nearly bowled me over.
