The 2021 Kirchspiel Riesling GG offers a nose to fall in love with: pure, intense, highly elegant and refined, like a Chablis based on perfectly ripe and pure Riesling fruits. It is incredibly chalky yet also lush and tropical in its fruit and intertwined with yeasty notes. Full-bodied, round and elegant on the palate, this is a lush and salty-savory, very stimulating yet quietly textured Kirchspiel whose acidity is really delicate and elegant and just holding the texture instead of cutting through it. If I had to bring a German Riesling to Alsace producers (who usually don't favor German Rieslings due to their malic acidity and reduction), Wittmann's Kirchspiel would be the one to choose. It is a very elegant and balanced wine that is based on five plots, of which one vat underwent malolactic during the alcoholic fermentation. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. The 2020 Kirchspiel GG opens very clear, bright and chalky on the spicy, Chablis-like nose that indicates a lovely complex Riesling from limestone rocks. Juicy, round and intense on the palate, this is a mouthful of wine with fine tannins and a generous nature. The finish is salty and vital, very long and complex and indicates great aging potential. Tasted in Wiesbaden at the end of August 2021.

The 2019 Kirchspiel Riesling GG is pure, fresh and spicy as well as coolish on the still yeasty but substantial and complex nose. Lush yet precise and refined on the elegant palate, this is a highly tensioned, grippy and chalky dry Riesling with great finesse, sustainable grip, intensity and stimulating salinity. A great Kirchspiel! Tasted as a sample in April 2020.

From an east-facing cru and picked at the very end of the harvest (on September 27th), the 2018 Kirchspiel Riesling GG is fascinating, precise, fine and piquant on the palate, with great intensity and finesse and a long and delicate finish. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020.

The 2017 Kirchspiel Riesling GG is concentrated, intense and precise on the flinty nose with lemon peel aromas. Round and intense on the palate, this is a concentrated and salty Riesling with fine tannins and a long and intense fruity finish. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020.
