The 2019 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Auslese is concentred and has lime and lemon chutney aromas yet still not fine on the somewhat earthy nose. Sweet, piquant yet somewhat harsh and sour on the finish, this is a comparably unfined Doctor Auslese, though with a tensioned and promising finish. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.

The 2017 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Auslese is intense and floral on the deep and still only slightly flinty nose. On the palate, this is a dense, lush, mouth-filling and mouthwatering Doctor Auslese with good grip, super sensual fruit and round texture. The finish is long and piquant, but it needs a decade or so to reduce the baby fat. Tasted from AP 5 18 in March 2019.

The 2016 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Auslese shows a very delicate and flinty bouquet and reveals beautiful precision. On the palate, this is a light but complex, highly delicate and elegant Doctor Auslese with very fine stone fruit flavors and a stimulatingly salty, complex finish. This is a beautifully filigreed Riesling. 8.5% alcohol. Tasted from the 375-milliliter bottle in March 2018. Total production: 800 liters.

The 2015 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Auslese is clear, cool and flinty on the nose, super precise, fine and incredibly fresh. Round, lush and light, this is a highly finessed, filigreed and almost weightless Auslese with lots of salt, grip and good tension in the finish. Still discreet and closed, this Doctor Auslese has great aging potential, and it will surely gain complexity and dimensions over the years in the bottle.
