The 2004 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Auslese A.P. #8, picked November 9-10 in the Burgerslay parcel that has historically yielded the most memorable and long-lived Willi Haag Rieslings, smells of peach, pink grapefruit, apple jelly, and spice cake. Refined and silky in the mouth, with ample spice-tinged pit fruit flavors, it displays an intensity of juicy fruit and a sheer succulence of healthy fruit that set it apart from the rest of this year’s collection. Interestingly, it was one of the few wines this year that fermented spontaneously. Various importers, including Billington Imports, Springfield, VA; tel. (703) 455-4700
