A notable success this year was his 2004 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spatlese A.P. #6. With sweet nutty and faintly vanilla and butterscotch tinged aromas, it pleasantly suggests over-ripeness and a hint of botrytis. In the mouth, this wine from a high-elevation portion of the Juffer, is surprisingly soft and fat for a 2004 Mosel Riesling, exhibiting a satiny texture and flavors of pure quince, caramelized pear, and marzipan. It finishes soft and gently but satisfyingly long. Various importers, including Billington Imports, Springfield, VA; tel. (703) 455-4700
