The 2004 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese A.P. #3, coming from the “sweetest” spot on the slope, directly under the sun dial, is rather single-mindedly peachy, but with a lovely glossy texture, bright citrus notes, lift and clarity. It displays a satisfying back end that harbors hints of herbs, wet stone, and peach kernel to go along with its poached expression of peach flesh. A bottle that had been opened for several days displayed comparable richness and absolutely no decay, and I would not hesitate to hold this wine for a dozen or more years.
