Marcus Haag’s attempt to select a Beerenauslese from across all of his parcels ended up becoming his 2007 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule, a wine that superbly combines the advanced richness and noble rot of a B.A. with the frame and delicacy of an Auslese. Maracuja, mango, apricot, and musk melon make for this Riesling’s dominant, tropically-ripe, effusive aromas and flavors, with subtle honey and caramel, white raisin, and date emerging on its creamy, plush palate as the wine takes on air. For all of its richness and caramelized suggestions, this delivers a delightful degree of refreshment. It should be worth following for two decades. Marcus Haag has enjoyed another highly successful vintage in 2007, when his harvest lasted from October 12-27.Various importers including Winebow Inc., Montvale, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
