Javillier's finest 1995 is the Meursault Narvaux, which displays a fabulous nose of flowers and spices. In the mouth, a thick and silky texture offers explosively rich tropical fruits (including bananas!), hazelnuts and crisp red berries. This powerful, beautiful, full-bodied wine can be drunk over the near term, or cellared for 10-12 years. Javillier also makes a Meursault Charmes but I did not have the opportunity to taste it. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29. Ratings with a range of scores in parentheses indicate the wine was tasted from cask, not bottle.
