A ‘two-star” 2005 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese** “Fass #42" (A.P. #13) represents the same parcel and picking as the “regular” Juffer Auslese, but for some reason this cask developed very differently. Treble aromas of lemon, pineapple, and sage with high-toned, honeyed botrytis suggestions lead to a palate with palpable density yet buoyancy, featuring ripe fresh fruit slathered in the honey of perfect botrytis and topped by high-toned herbal essences. Not making any attempt to flatter in its youth, this Auslese lays down its formidable intense fruit concentration in a relatively firm finish.
