There are two cuvees of Chardonnay. The 1991 Reserve Chardonnay exhibits gobs of fresh fruit, well-integrated, toasty oak, and a creamy, full-bodied, opulent texture. The Reserve Chardonnays (about 3,500 cases per year) are 100% barrel-fermented and aged in 100% new oak. They are usually a blend of fruit from Napa and Sonoma. They are richer, fuller-bodied, more ambitiously-styled Chardonnays that need to be drunk in their first 2-4 years of life. Recent vintages have all been immensely impressive. One of the bright shining success stories of California, Ferrari-Carano has a brilliant future.Tel. (707) 433-6700
